Okumura Shoko biography

Shoko Okumura is a Japanese painter specialized in traditional Japanese painting. She graduated in "Traditional Japanese Painting" at Tokyo University of the Arts.
She realizes works on commission for individuals and companies.
Since she was a child she showed a great passion for painting, especially she loves to represent elements natural portraits in the various seasons of the year.

1983
She was born in Chiba, Japan.

2002
She graduated from the Joshibi High School of Art and Design.

2008
She graduated in Traditional Japanese Painting at Tokyo University of Arts (Tokyo Academy of Fine Arts). She moved to Florence where he studied restoration at International University of Arts.

2009
She won the prestigious scholarship of the Japanese Government.

2010
She graduated from the International University of Arts in Florence; then she moved to Milan. She started to teach Japanese painting courses at the Center of Japanese culture of Milan, still in progress.



Main works and exhibits

2011
Made some drawings for the magazine "Vanity fair".

2012
Presented "Birth of the Manga through the works of Hokusai" at Lucca Comics. Presented Traditional Japanese Painting Technique at the Wow comic museum in Milan

2013
She made 5 covers for the 5 booklets of Yamatomaru tasting at the best Japanese restaurants in Milan (A.I.R.G).

2015
Won Tokyo's "The Adachi contemporary Ukiyoe award".

2016
Held the conference on Traditional Japanese Painting at Luciana Matalon Foundation.

2019
Shoko Okumura + Eri Muranaka solo exhibition, Takashimaya Shinjuku Art Gallery, Tokyo, Japan
